It’s rare to see a female orange-all-over cat (for this to happen, she would need an orange or red father and a mother with some orange coloring). Genetics are also the reason a majority of cats with orange-only coats are male. The size of orange tabby cats can be influenced by factors such as genetics, gender, diet, and activity level. If they get an o version, they’ll be a different color. There is a persistent misconception that all orange tabby cats are male. Orange tabby cats come in various sizes, but on average, they have a height of 9 to 10 inches and a weight of 10 to 15 pounds. Orange cats are known to be friendly and loving, but many suffer from health. While all orange cats are tabbies, not all tabbies are orange, thus giving us the many coat colors of cats. Cat coat colors and types are passed down from the parents, and most orange tabby cats are male. If they get an O version, they’re orange. Only about 20 are female, but it’s rare to find one. Male cats on the other hand, are rarely calico or tortoiseshell because they only have that one X chromosome. They purr and meow a lot and will always want to be. Male cats with their XY chromosomes only need one copy of the gene. Female cats have two X chromosomes, which means two chances to inherit orange hues. The dominant O gene will produce orange coloration the recessive o gene will not. Basically, the gene responsible for orange and red coat color is found on the X chromosome and comes in two versions: dominant (O) and recessive (o).
